Indian Silver lingam/amulet box pendant, a horizontal tube case with a worked conical finial at both ends; top with a rectangular plaque, embellished with repousse design of a garland in center flanked by four baby elephants with a mythical bird on both ends and crowned by a row of finials. These pendants once used to keep prayers and valuables wishing to ward off evil spirits and protect the devout. One could unscrew one of the conical finial on side clockwise to open it for storage. Ex-Karnataka State, West India. Early 20th century.
